The Big 16 in the Champions League

today The Big 16 in the Champions League 16 teams have secured their place on the second round of the Champions League, occupying one of the first two places of their flow in the group stage.

Eight winners in the groups and eight runners-up are already expecting the draw for eliminations on Monday, December 16th in Nyon.

Group winners: Manchester United, Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona.

Runners-up: Bayer Leverkusen, Galatasaray, Olympiakos, Manchester City, Schalke, Arsenal, Zenit, Milan.

According to the rules, teams played in the same group in the group stage, don't have the right to be withdrawn against one another. Teams from the same country also are not allowed to be collected at the second round. This will avoid the possible German and English clashes in the first elimination matches. Runners-up will host the first meeting.

Two more draws will be drawn by the end of the season in the Champions League - on March 21, 2013 - for the quarterfinals, and on April 11 for the semifinals and the final match.

Eighthfinal dates are February 18th, February 19th, 2014, with second legs on March 11-12th, or February 25-26th, with second legs on March 18-19th.

Quarter-finals and semi-finals are in April, and the grand finale - May 24 in Lisbon.
