The first two weeks of the NBA championship will be canceled until 10 October if not an end to lockout, the league said Commissioner David Stern.

"We are facing to lose games of the regular season. This will be a big blow to the owners and players. On Monday we will have no choice but to cancel the first two weeks of the season," said Stern.

His comments came shortly after four-hour meeting in Manhattan, where both sides had hoped to end the lockout that began on July 1. Owners of teams and players came to the meeting knowing that the season can not start on time, if not made significant progress in the talks.

"Today was not the day you can finish it," said Derek Fisher, president of the National Basketball Association players. Executive Director of that association did Billy Hunter acknowledged that there are no plans to resume negotiations.

"We talked about the coming talks. Maybe month. Two months. I do not know better than you. At this point we stopped the negotiations," he said.

The bosses of the teams in the NBA argue that the league lost $ 300 million last season and 22 goals total of 30 teams were in the red. They want a share of league revenue related to basketball rose from 50 to 57 percent, wages are smaller and shorter contracts.

Basketball players have agreed to reduce its share to 53 percent. Stern acknowledged that the owners were willing to offer 50-50 division, but the offer was rejected. Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver NBA did add that had little sense ofcalls only.
