Again failed negotiations between the NBA and the players

10.10.2011

Yesterday's five-hour meeting between players and owners clubs NBA is not successful and so remained only one day that could be saved the first two weeks of the regular season.

League Commissioner David Stern said a few days ago that if both parties agree by Monday, matches the first two weeks of the regular season will be canceled.

"No one can say that we are closer to an agreement after this meeting, but will try again," revealed the President of the union players - Derek Fisher of the LA Lakers. Now all 114 matches of pre-season period were canceled, and the regular season should start on 1 November, although it seems very unlikely.

League refuses to give the players more than 50 percent of revenue, while the players want 53. Under the old contract, which expired with the end of last season, basketball collected their 57 percent of revenue and now they are not ready for such a serious setback. The difference in the demands of both sides is too high and threatens the entire season in the NBA.

The only time the season was reduced because of the lockout was in the 1998/99 year. Then the teams played only 50 games because it took too much time on both sides to agree.
