30.10.2011

A team of Bulgarian Tennis Federation led by its president Stefan Tsvetkov was a 3-day working visit in Istanbul at the invitation of the management of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), as part of preparations for the upcoming 2012 in Sofia first WTA Tournament a champion.

"We had a series of intensive meetings during the WTA Championship 2011, held in Istanbul," said Stefan Tsvetkov. "Our team has already met with the appointed supervisor of the Sofia tournament Fabrice Shuke, as well as representatives of all major organizational units of the female team final Masters."

"In the period 2012 - 2014 year Sofia will host the Tournament of Champions - the second most important tournament final of WTA. Each of our team had meetings with his counterparts from the event in Istanbul - operations, technical support, communications, marketing and advertising, television, "said Stefan Tsvetkov.

"The commitment we made to the WTA and Bulgarian sport is important, so do not spare the time and effort! Achieve complete coordination with relevant units in the Tennis Association, and from here, go into his duties in depth!

Already formed and the organizing committee for the tournament. One idea is to offer our partnership with Sofia Municipality and Mrs. Fandakova, to partner in the promotion of Sofia as both host such a prestigious tennis tournament as a candidate for European Capital of Culture. There is nothing unusual - we saw it in Istanbul. Culture and sport advertising work for the city and state.

I'm sure we will get the support of the municipality. Will coordinate its effortsand with the Turkish Tennis Federation, so that the WTA Championship 2012 in Istanbul and the Tournament of Champions 2012 in Sofia, to be promoted simultaneously. They will start in two weeks, so for us it would be good international media and the traveling tennis fans to know that Sofia is only a few hours drive from Istanbul.

Will focus on promotion in neighboring countries, especially in Serbia. I think 2012 will be a year of Bulgarian tennis! "Said Tsvetkov.
