Heynckes: We deserved our victory and we will play as well in the second leg

"I want to express a huge compliment to my players who played very well. And after the result was not favorable for us, they ran more and played even better" said the happiest coach of Bayern (Munich) Jupp Heynckes after the success with 2:1 over Real (Madrid) in the first semifinal of the Champions League. The German specialist led Real to the 6th in the Champions League Cup in 1998 year, but that does not save his position and he was fired because the White ballet in this season finished in the 4th place in La Liga.

"It was clear from the begining that both teams will fight for the victory and there will be open game. In my opinion we deserved the victory and beat a great team. We played with a hunger for victory, passion and ambition" said Heynckes after his team reached 11th victory in 19 meetings between the two teams. Heynckes however is confident that his players will not go to Madrid for tourism.

"We'll play, will try to create scoring opportunities and if we can to put one or two goals. We won't fight for equality." Asked how he would appreciate the game of Mario Gomez, who quite earlier than the last minute was able to score again, but from 7-8 meters sent the ball over the crossbar. "Gomez has worked hard throughout and was finally rewarded for the efforts which he make" said the coach. It was a typical game for this stage of the Champions League. If anyone thought that the semi-final won't be a physical clash, I don't know what to say. Won't be different and the second leg. Hardly will be easybut after this result is not decided anything and everyone can come up a winner after the second meeting" added Heynckes.
