FIFA accepted a woman as a member of the Executive Committee for the first time

The World football governing FIFA accepted a woman as a member of the Executive Committee for the first time in the history. The decision was made yesterday at the meeting of the FIFA Executive Committee in Budapest.

Lydia Nsekera, president of the Football Federation of Burundi, was admitted to the Executive Committee and will be confirmed at the upcoming Congress of FIFA in Budapest on Friday.

Nsekera is a member of the committee for women's football and part of the organizing committee of FIFA for World Championships for women and the Olympic football tournament for women.

Among the other decisions taken at the meeting was the prohibition to all fireworks at the football stadiums at the proposal of President Sepp Blatter.
