Gerrard: We will protect any of ours, who has offended

6.07.2012

England captain Steven Gerrard said he would advocate for any teammate who was victim of racist insults in Euro 2012.

The problem of racial discrimination was lit a few weeks before the start of the tournament by Mario Balotelli, who said he would leave the terrain if the fans start lining up insulting lines about him.

"I would not advise anyone to leave the pitch, but if someone came to me and tell me that he is racist offended I will immediately tell the judge and then we will inform and UEFA," said the experienced midfielder. "I will certainly support anyone who sought my help."

"I have great faith in UEFA that they deal with this problem. Up to them to provide us - in the FA and the national team - instructions on how to react in those situations, "added Gerrard.
