The right defender of England Glen Johnson admitted that he had to use pain medication to be able to play the finals of European Championship in Poland and Ukraine. Johnson suffered from inflammation of the toe.

"I got an infection of the toe at the end of the season in the Premier League. In the last four games of the league need to use anesthetic injections to play," said the Liverpool defender.

"For more than five weeks I am on antibiotics. Unfortunately, the pain does not go away. The good news is that I can train, but the problems are more serious after the matches," he added.

Johnson is categorical that such injury could not stop him to play for England.

"I can not afford one thumb to removed me from a game. However, we are at the European Championships. We still have two games in the group. I want to be useful to the team and qualify ahead," said Johnson.
