F1 teams are understood to cut costs until 30 June

7.07.2012

The management of Formula 1 set June 30 as the deadline for a decision of the teams for new measures to reduce costs.

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) also said after the meeting in Paris that they hoped the saga about the long term agreement to be finalized within weeks.

"We pursue an active discussion with the teams about cost control," said by the FIA. "Any change of the technical regulations which results from the new restrictions on the cost of the chassis will be sent to the World Motorsport Council by fax no later than June 30. The aim is to help all teams to participate in the championship on equal terms. "

A deadline is a point beyond which the decisions for the next season will have to be taken in full unanimity, which has always been a problem in Formula 1. Until 30 June, however, agreement can be confirmed with a simple majority.
