UEFA has accused Spain and Russia in racism

7.07.2012

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against the Russian Football Union and Royal Football Federation due to the unethical behavior of fans between Russia and Spain during the matches of Euro 2012, said the official website of the European organization.

In a statement the UEFA noted that Russian fans chanted racist slogans during the first team game in the tournament against a team from the Czech Republic, which took place on June 8 even in Wroclaw. And the Spanish spectators allow themselves to such antics on June 10 in Gdansk at the match against Italy. Both cases of the UEFA Disciplinary Committee will consider on June 28.

Earlier, the League has already punished the RAF for fighting of fans with stewards and the incorrect banners on the same game with the Czechs. The Russian side was punished by a fine of 120,000 euros and the removal of six points from the national team in qualifying for the next European Championship. The decision will come into force if, during the probationary period - until the end of the play-offs for Euro 2016 - Russian fans will violate the order at the stadium. RFS has filed an appeal, but it has not yet been reviewed.
