Diego Maradona has finally been fired by Al Vasal. The football club from the United Arab Emirates has long stretched the knife of the Argentinean, but now the news was officially confirmed, and distributed worldwide from the agencies - Associated Press, ESPN, Yahoo and others.

Board of Directors of Al Vasal said in a statement that they dismiss Maradona and his technical staff with immediate effect.

Under the leadership of Diego Maradona's team Al Vasal was ranked eighth out of 12 teams in first division championship of the United Arab Emirates.

Maradona, who is currently on vacation and is not in Dubai, was not reached for comment, wrote AP

Maradona became head coach of Al Vasal in May last year when he sign two-year contract.
