Westermann replaced the injured Humels and Bender in the team of Germany 9.10.2012

The coach of Bundesteam Joachim Loew called in the national team Heiko Westermann from Hamburg for the World Cup qualifier against Ireland and Sweden.

Loew took this decision after the two of the nationals are injured. These are the central defender Mats Humels of Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender.

Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gyundogan dropped out too of the composition because of injury.

For the 29 years old Westermann, who played well as a defender and as a defensive midfielder, this is the first call-up for almost two years.

The German travel to Ireland on October 12, and four days later accepts Sweden in Berlin.
