The Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero finished his career in professional tennis in singles with emotional win in the first round of the tournament in Valencia, having lost with 5:7, 3:6 from his close friend and compatriot Nicolas Almagro.
Ferrero, a former world number one and champion from the French Open in 2003, announced his retirement of the professional tennis last month when playing his home tournament. Almagro had too much strength and endurance against his mentor, and the match ended with smiles and banter between two Spanish players.
Ferrero oppose Almagro in the first set and won five games, but in the second-youngest of two players not experiencing problems and won with 6:3. This does not upset anyone and Ferrero was sent with loud cheers from fans who received almost all of his available items.
