Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis was willing to sell his star Edinson Cavani to Chelsea in the summer, but in the European champions gave up because of the poor performance of the Uruguayan national team at the Olympic Games in London, media reports in Italy.

The deal between the two countries were at an advanced stage and the boss of Neapolitans personally convinced "The Blues" to take forward. The eccentric film producer even hired an agent, who sent in the capital to make the transfer.

From Napoli demanded 30 million euros for Cavani but in view the elimination of Uruguay from the Olympic football tournament Londoners felt that the price is too high.

Now De Laurentiis claims that he would not be parted from his top scorer for an amount less than € 95 million. In conditions introduced by UEFA financial fair play similar price makes it virtually Cavani unsaleable, although unconfirmed reports in Chelsea are ready to offer 48 million pounds for him.
