The goalkeeper of the national team of Italy Gianluigi Buffon has revealed that in 2001 he had the opportunity to join Barcelona. The key to his transfer to Juventus, however, lies in his father put him up to the "Old Lady".
The guard has become a true icon in Turin, and remained in the team even when the team's stay in Serie B. Buffon joined Juventus from Parma in 2001.
"Before I join Juventus in 2001, I could go to Barcelona," revealed the keeper to Sport Mediaset.
"My father suggested Juventus. And every day I thank him for that because I have a lot of great moments here. Conclusion of the contract in 2013 is another important step. I decided to stay, even though I had a tempting offer from Eastern Europe, which would make anyone think twice, "added Gigi Buffon.
"I hope to play a few more years to be able to do it in the same way as before," added the keeper of Juventus.
