The Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kießling announced that the upcoming season will be the last for him.
The 33-year-old footballer will end his career when his contract with Bayer runs out in the summer of 2018.
The news was announced by the coach Heiko Herrlich.
Earlier the specialist expressed hope that the club will be able to persuade the striker to stay at least one more season.
'I have already talked to the new coach, we had a fruitful conversation. Herrlich not only knows football, but he knows the life of soccer player because he has played before. That is my last season.', said Kießling in front of the club's official website.
Stefan Kießling has been playing for Bayer since 2006.
