The managers of Manchester United are exploring the possibility to increase the capacity of Old Trafford. According to the press, the intent is 'The Theatre of Dreams' to become the third largest stadium in Europe after Camp Nou and Wembley. Currently, Old Trafford has a capacity for 75 643 viewers, but the idea is the number to be increased to 88 000. That will be done through the expansion of the South stand, which bears the name of Sir Bobby Charlton.
If the plan is realized, then it would mean that Old Trafford will overtake the capacity of stadiums such as Santiago Bernabeu, Giuseppe Meazza, Stade de France and Signal Iduna Park.
