Ipswich sacked former captain of Manchester United

7.01.2011

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane was fired as manager of Championship club Ipswich.

39-year-old was appointed head of the team in April 2009. In this campaign the team is on 19 place of 24 members, but in his last nine matches the record seven losses.

"I am disappointed that leaves Portman Road. The results were not those who had hoped this season. When they are not good, the manager collects his luggage. This is the game," said Keane.

"However, I believed that progression and the boys were able to make things positive. The team is preparing well for the visit of Chelsea on Sunday and then for the semi-final against Arsenal in the Cup of the League."

"I had great in Ipswich. Semestvoto leaving town with her. I respect this club, management and fans. I wish you all success."
