Spanish driver Dani Pedrosa of Honda won the first pole position for the season after giving the best time in today's qualification for Sunday's Czech Grand Prix, announced Thursday.

25-year-old Spaniard, who dominated both free practice yesterday, turning his best lap time of 1:56.591 minutes ahead of current world champion and pilot Jorge Lorenzo Yamaha. Compatriot Pedrosa stayed in second place with only 0.113 seconds behind.

Teammate Pedrosa Repsol Honda in the team, Casey Stoner of Australia was third today, while winning the final free practice this morning. Stoner is the leader in the standings. Paul-pozishanat of Pedrosa comes immediately after his success in the German Grand Prix last month.

2. Jorge Lorenzo - Yamaha + 0.113 seconds;

3. Casey Stoner - Honda + 0.269;

4. Ben Spies - Yamaha + 0.587;

6. Valentino Rossi - Ducati + 0.776;

7. Andrea Dovizioso - Honda + 0.851;

8. Colin Edwards - Tech 3 Yamaha + 1.085;

9. Nicky Hayden - Ducati + 1.130;

10. Hiroshi Aoyama - Honda Gresini + 1.193.
