Macedonia release John Toshak only after 12 months as coach

13.08.2012

John Toshak was fired from the Macedonian Football Federation only a year after being appointed as a coach of the national football team in the country.

Former Wales coach refused to satisfy the requirements set by the new president of the federation Ilcho Gyorgiyoski. On several occasions Gyorgiyoski asked from the 63 years old Toshak to move to Macedonia to monitor closely the development of football in the country, but the Welshman chose to work in Spain.

In their eight games leading the team he has achieved only one victory, but his dismissal came less than a month before the World Cup qualifier in Brazil.

"The coach of the Macedonian team John Toshak refused to fulfill the requirements of the President of MFF Ilcho Gyorgiyoski and agreed his contract to be terminated," reads the official position of the federation.
