Diego Forlan is leaving the national team of Uruguay

12.03.2015

The Uruguay national player Diego Forlan has announced that he will no longer play for the Celeste.
The 35-year-old Forlan has had 112 appearances for the national team, having scored 36 goals. He has participated in 3 world cups, such as that in South Africa in 2010 and was declared the best footballer. In 2011, Forlan won with Celeste Copa America.
'It was a difficult decision. But I know it's my time. Everything has a beginning and end. Have to give way to the young. It was a great honor for me to play for the national team, to carry a stick with the t-shirt alongside great players. As a child, I used to dream about this. And your dream came true.'said Forlan's press conference in Osaka, where he is currently playing for second-divisional Cerezo.
'I will continue to support the national team, but as a fan. However, I'm not going to quit football. Physically I feel good. I want to help Cerezo this season to win promotion to League one.', said Forlan, who in its career was played for Independiente, Manchester United, Villarreal, Atletico Madrid, Inter, Internationales Porto Alegre.
