The world champion with the team of Germany of 1990, Thomas Hessler, took over as head coach the amateur team from Berlin, who plays in the 8th division, DPA reported.
Hessler was presented today as a mentor of the club Italy from Berlin, but will take over the team from next season.
The former midfielder has had 101 caps for the national team of Germany, and also won the title of Euro 1996 in England.
'I have not had any other prospects. The important thing is that I can finally get back close to the ground and do something.', said the 49-year-old Hessler, who has played in three World Cups.
