Popular Romanian coach was suspended for 6 months

The head coach of the leader in Romania FC Astra, Mariusz Sumudika, was banned for six months for betting on matches of the Romanian Cup and international matches.
Sumudika bet between 500 and 900 euros a few Derby of domestic championship, Champions League, Europa League, as well as the Romanian youth teams, was announced by the Romanian Football Federation.
The coach was fined and with 100 000 lei ($24 340).
The management of FC Astra supported the coach who brought the team to a leadership position in the Romanian Championship with 3 points ahead of the second Dynamo Bucharest.
'It is unfair. There is nothing to blame him. We will do everything necessary to protect him.', said the Director of Astra-Petre Buduru in front of the local media.
He added that the club will appeal against the penalty.
Betting on the matches of local Championship or anywhere in the world is banned in Romania for football-related people.
Sumudika punishment shall take effect immediately and applies to all football activities.
