Rafael Nadal: I play 1000 hours of tennis every year

28.10.2017

Raphael Nadal took part in a fun advertisement for the digital TV company Movistar +, in which he revealed curious statistical facts from his professional career. Mathador has more clarity about how many hours a year he actually spends on the court with a rocket in his hand.

I train on average four hours a day in 210 days of the year. That is a lot! If we add and play an average of 80 games per year, and each of them lasts about two hours, that`s a total of 1, 000 hours of tennis each year! Naturally, do not count the training sessions during the tournaments themselves. I change the string of my rocket every nine games and the length of the cord is 10 meters for a rocket. That means I need a few kilometers of cords per year. Well, I do not know how many times I hit the ball. Taking into account how many times I travel, I can watch all the Movistar + series, Nadal says in front of the camera.
