Batista inherited Maradona led Argentina

9.11.2010

The selection committee of the Argentine Football Association organized a meeting on Friday, which will be decided who will take over the senior team after the departure of Diego Maradona. The only name so far is that of Sergio Batista. Strategy is supported by both the Barcelona star Lionel Messi and one of the most influential people in the country with regard to football.

"Batista is a good choice because it has enough experience and will be able to develop the team. I'm sure my dad likes him," said Humberto Grondona.

Grondona is assistant director of the national team selection and was the son of the president of the Association Julio Grondona.
