Schumacher greatest in Germany 16.06.2011

Michael Schumacher is the greatest athlete of all time in Germany. This according to a survey among German fans of the sport, commissioned by the prestigious daily newspaper Bild. Respondent includes 50 athletes and the number of votes is 56,652.

Seven-time world champion in Formula 1 wins with 28.36 percent of the vote. Second behind it ranks Kaiser Franz Beckenbauer by 13% and the top three complement Dirk Nowitzki.

"This is great recognition for me. It makes me very happy and proud. All athletes in the poll deserves to be in this place. They have proven repeatedly in their fields," said Schumacher to Bild.

On the 10th item was rated The current world champion in Formula 1 Sebastian Vettel.
