Official: Tokyo wished Olympics 16.07.2011

Japanese capital Tokyo officially announced his candidacy to host the Olympics in 2020 as a symbol of Japan's determination to recover after the devastating earthquake of 11 March and the ensuing tsunami.

President of the Japanese Olympic Committee Tsunekazu Takeda announced that the Executive Committee approved the nomination headquarters in Tokyo at a special meeting, which took place in the day when it became clear that the country will host the Games in 2016.

"Japan should recover from this disaster. We want the Olympics in 2020 as a symbol of our desire," Takeda said the celebrations on occasion of 100th anniversary of the Committee attended and IOC President Jacques Rogge.
