Mexico is running as host the World Cup in 2026 21.09.2012

Mexico will run for host of the World Cup in 2026, said the president of the country's football federation Hustino Compean.

Mexico organized twice World Cup football - in 1970 and 1986. If selected as the host the country will be the first ever took three World Cup.

U.S. will also apply for hosting the championship in 2026.

"Mexico organized two great world championships, and we want to do it again. It will be a hard battle with the U.S.," said Compean.

Mondial 2014 will be held in Brazil and in the 2018th will be hosted by Russia, in 2022 - Qatar.

Five countries have have been hosts twice a World Cup football. Besides Mexico these are Brazil (1950, 2014), Italy (1934, 1990), France (1938, 1998) and Germany (1974, 2006).
