Own goal and penalty shootout took Valencia to his feet

7.01.2018

Lost speed in Valencia`s Primera Division team made a tough 2-1 win over Girona in their first home game in 2018. With this success Marcellino`s team managed to stabilize and is only 2 points behind the second Atletico Madrid.

Before today`s game, the bats had three losses with their last four Championship matches, which led them away from Barcelona. Beginning was also bad for them, because in the 8th minute they were catching up after Portu caught the ball with a head in the net and the newbies led. The chance helped Valencia to equalize, as in the 27th minute Jonas Ramalio defeated the ball in his own door and Yassin Bunu failed to react - 1:1. Three minutes after resuming the game, Daniel Pareho brought the ball to 2:1 after a penalty kick.

However, Girona`s team did not betray and was the last threat to the hosts. They missed everything before the last signal because of Rodrigo Moreno`s omissions and the debut Luciano Viento.

Girona ranks tenth in the standings.
