Lekler is satisfied with the third place in qualification. The Ferrari pilot summed up the qualification session in front of the Bahrain Grand Prix, noting that he was glad of the result and was generally satisfied with the work of the updated car.
To be honest, I did not expect to be in third place. Yes, I knew that in the third qualification segment we are able to set a good time of the circle. And I knew this in the course of the first and second segment - that we need to be patient and wait for the moment when the conditions on the highway will become more optimal for us.
It was not easy, because at the beginning of the third segment, on old tires, everything was very bad in sensations. However, after the transition to a fresh tire set, the situation immediately improved.
I am satisfied. And I did not expect this . . . I think this result was the result of the fact that in the last weeks we have tried many rather radical options for the car settings, and now, according to the sensations, we managed to find a good option.
The team laid out as crazy in order to have time to prepare the car updates for this Grand Prix. I do not think that this is the best route for testing updates, but they will definitely not be superfluous. While they gave a small increase in speed, but I hope that next week (at the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia), progress will be more significant.
And if today we were able to take the third place, especially taking into account the minimum marks between the teams, then the new products were helped, ”said Lekler.
