 | | Alex Albon: Already licked his lips! I thought that I could get to the piastes - the pace was so good31.05.2025 |
Albon is delighted with the pace of Williams after the stage in Imola. The pilot of Williams spoke about the fifth place in the Grand Prix of Emilia-Romania.
At the end of the race, Albon fought in fourth place with Charles Lekler, however, after the strict defense of Monegask, he was forced to cut off the turn over gravel-which caused Lewis Hamilton`s position. To avoid a potential fine, Ferrari ordered Lecler to miss Alex.
Strange, isn`t it? On a pure pace, we fought for a third or fourth place-and not thanks to the sift karam, this is all a clean pace. Perhaps we were a little unlucky with a virtual security machine-and of course, we were not lucky again with the last Sefti Kar.
Two finishes in a row in fifth place [in Imola and Miami], and we are leaving today a little upset - it is strange to say this.
Perhaps, I could do otherwise to the fight against Charles [Leclair], I could cope better. Obviously, I lost the position of Lewis [Hamilton]. I could probably act more patiently, trying to overtake Charles.
I already licked my lips! I thought that I could get to Oscar [Piaste] - the pace on fresh tires was so good, ”said Albon.
Alex also separately commented on the form of Williams in the last races:
Honestly, I continue to say that this will not happen anymore, that this is only in this race. And then we come to the next stage and are fast again. This is talking about something, right?
I would honestly say that in Miami and on our website we were quick. In my opinion, we were unexpectedly fast to this weekend. I expected that the stage in Miami would pass well, but so that also on our website . . . Does it open the way somewhere else?
Perhaps next week we will look good - I think that everything will go well in Monaco. It will be difficult in Barcelona, but we will continue to enjoy this pace as long as there is an opportunity, ”said Albon.
