 | | Pochettino on Pulisic on Team USA: I`m a head coach, not a dummy - players need to listen and stick to the plan. We explained why we did not include it in the lineup21.10.2025 |
Mauricio Pochettino and Christian Pulisic quarreled amid the US national team matches. The Milan midfielder said on the Call It What You Want podcast that he wanted to take part in the national team`s two friendlies before the start of the CONCACAF Cup (1:2 with Turkey and 0:4 with Switzerland).
Pulisic said he respects Pochettino`s decision not to include him in the squad, but does not understand it.
Players must listen and stick to our plan. They cannot dictate it.
The most important thing is that we explained why we decided not to include him in the squad for the two friendlies. If you have any problems after this, then no, it is not my concern.
When I signed a contract with the federation, I became the head coach. I`m not a mannequin.
I love communicating with the players, but at the same time I want everyone to feel the same respect from the coaching staff. If someone doesn`t like it, okay, ” said USA head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Pulisic on criticism after 4 straight US defeats: You can say what you want about my game, but questioning my dedication is extremely inappropriate
